WHITING Brahma Hen Soft Hackle with Chickabou is a special Whiting Farms hen pelt that provides two functionally different feather types on one skin. Fly tiers get classic soft hackle along with very fine Chickabou, which moves in the water much like delicate marabou.
The soft hackle section consists of wide, soft feathers with pronounced web. It is especially useful for larger collars, wet flies and patterns for salmon, steelhead, bass and saltwater fishing. The soft fibers open and move naturally in the water.
Chickabou is found on the finer section of the pelt. It is a smaller, more delicate marabou-like feather and is finer than traditional turkey marabou. Its subtle movement makes it excellent for small streamers, leech patterns, dragonfly and damselfly nymphs, or anywhere you want to add life without excessive bulk.
