Gear designed around the way you fish
At first glance, it sounds like a simple slogan. The more we got to know the brand, however, the more accurately it seemed to describe the way A.Jensen approaches product development.
In our view, A.Jensen does not design one-size-fits-all products. It designs gear around specific styles of fishing.
When you want to target large predators, you get a fly line built to handle large streamers. When you fish stillwaters, you get a rod designed for stillwater techniques. When you need waders for demanding conditions, you expect robust construction and practical detailing.
Why you will find A.Jensen at Thymallus
We did not discover the brand through advertising or a product catalogue. We discovered it through someone we trust.
Jano first came across A.Jensen at EFTTEX. Over time, he began testing individual products and found that behind the understated name was gear offering an exceptional price-to-performance ratio.
Once we had the first A.Jensen fly lines, rods and wading gear in our hands, it became clear why the brand had earned a permanent place in the Thymallus range.
The fly line in the freezer
I was looking for a floating line for a #9 rod, mainly for pike fishing. Jano recommended the A.Jensen Quick Shoot Tropic Floating.
His only concern was how a tropical fly line would behave in ice-cold water. Some tropical lines become noticeably stiff in low temperatures, and once they do, they no longer cast or handle as they should.
Rather than giving me a long explanation, he opened the freezer in the shop and placed the line inside for a few minutes.
When he took it out, I was not holding a hard, wiry coil. The line was still beautifully supple and easy to handle.
It was not marketing
It was a simple practical test. After the first few sessions on the water, it became clear that the initial impression had been correct. The rod loaded easily, the line shot smoothly and even large streamers were surprisingly straightforward to cast.
That was the moment our trust in A.Jensen began to grow.

While looking through the A.Jensen Pro Team, we noticed something interesting. The people around the brand are not generic all-round anglers. Each of them has spent years specialising in a particular kind of fishing.

Without the logo, we believe very few anglers handed an A.Jensen rod, fly line or pair of waders would correctly guess its price.

We do not see this page as a finished catalogue. We will continue adding our own experience, photographs from the water, long-term testing notes and new products as we get to know them.
