Fly tying dubbing

Dubbing is one of the core materials used in fly tying. It is mainly used to build bodies and thoraxes on dry flies, nymphs, wet flies and streamers. Depending on the fiber and blend, dubbing can create a fine compact body, a more textured buggy profile or a bright UV-active effect.

Natural and synthetic dubbing

Natural dubbing is commonly chosen when a fine, lifelike texture is important. Synthetic dubbing offers a wider range of colors, shine and visual effects and is often used in nymphs, streamers and attractor patterns.

UV, fluorescent, pearl and holographic dubbing

The color effect of dubbing changes the visibility and appearance of a fly in the water. The range includes natural shades as well as UV, fluorescent, pearl, metallic, glossy, transparent and holographic dubbing for different light conditions, depths and fly styles.

Dubbing for nymphs, dry flies and streamers

Finer dubbing is well suited to dry fly bodies and smaller nymphs, while brighter and more textured blends work well for thoraxes, hotspots and streamers. Use the filters for color effect and composition to quickly narrow the range to natural or synthetic dubbing.
