WHITING American Hen Soft Hackle with Chickabou – two soft feather types in one pelt
WHITING American Hen Soft Hackle with Chickabou combines two distinctly useful feather types in a single hen pelt: wide, soft and webby Soft Hackle feathers and very fine, marabou-like Chickabou. The result is a versatile material for wet flies, nymphs and streamers where natural movement in the water is essential.
Soft Hackle
Soft Hackle provides supple, webby feathers that work particularly well as collars or front hackles on wet flies and streamers. The larger feathers are also useful for Matuka and Sculpin patterns, as well as larger salmon, steelhead, bass and saltwater flies.
Chickabou
Chickabou is a fine marabou-like feather that is considerably smaller and more delicate than traditional turkey marabou. In the water it creates lively, pulsating movement without unnecessary bulk. It is excellent for tails and bodies on small streamers, leech and Woolly Bugger patterns, as well as dragonfly and damselfly nymphs.
