Description

TRAUN RIVER Easy Cast – floating WF fly line for first casts and everyday fly fishing

TRAUN RIVER Easy Cast Floating Fly Line is an affordable and versatile floating Weight Forward (WF) fly line designed for easy casting and reliable fly presentation. Its balanced head helps load the rod quickly at short and medium distances, while the slick surface provides good shooting performance on longer casts. An accessible option for fishing dry flies, wet flies, nymphs and small streamers for trout and grayling.

Key benefits

  • Great for children learning with an adult and adult beginners, yet also a practical affordable all-rounder for experienced anglers.
  • Balanced WF taper makes short- and medium-range casts easier.
  • Two-tone design separates the head from the running line, helping anglers follow the line and learn the double haul.
  • Floating construction for versatile fishing on rivers and stillwaters.
  • Slick, dirt-resistant coating reduces friction and promotes consistent line shooting.
  • Integrated front loop allows quick leader attachment.
  • 25 m overall length in AFTMA classes #3, #4, #5 and #6.

An excellent fly line for learning – including younger anglers

When introducing a child to fly fishing or assembling your own first outfit, you do not need to invest in the most expensive fly line. Easy Cast helps new anglers learn good casting fundamentals without an unnecessarily high initial cost. Its two distinct colors make it easier to see the fly-line head and thinner running line. This helps parents and instructors demonstrate how much head is outside the rod tip and when to shoot line or begin learning the double haul.

This is not a children's-only product: it works just as well for adult beginners, casual fly anglers and as an affordable second line. For children, choose the correct AFTMA class for the rod rather than selecting a line based only on age.

What does the two-tone WF taper do?

A Weight Forward line concentrates much of its casting weight in the thicker front head, followed by a thinner running line. This helps transfer energy efficiently through the cast. The color change makes the head position easy to see and is particularly helpful when developing casting timing.

Thymallus recommendation: For a first fly-fishing outfit, select the AFTMA class recommended for your rod. If unsure, ask our team to help match your rod, reel and line. A more expensive line is not automatically the right tool for learning to cast.
