WHITING Hebert Miner Hen Cape is a full hen neck cape for tiers who want natural colors, fine fibers and lively movement in the water. Hebert Miner™ is one of the traditional Whiting Farms lines and is especially known for its broad range of natural dun, brown and grizzly shades.
Compared with stiffer rooster hackle, hen feathers are softer and move more naturally in the water. This makes them particularly useful for soft-hackle wet flies, nymphs, collars and legs. Feathers from the larger areas of the cape can also be used for streamer wings, larger wet flies and salmon patterns. On dry flies, hen is best used as a wing or supplementary material rather than as a substitute for stiff rooster dry-fly hackle.
