The return of a proven classic
The original Coastal fly line quickly became a benchmark among fly lines for coastal anglers. Coastal Classic WF builds on that legacy and keeps the same overall personality that made the first version so popular. It still offers strong wind-cutting ability, excellent energy transfer and reliable performance in cold climates, but with subtle profile refinements and updated materials it now feels even more balanced and user-friendly on the water.
Even sinking and improved strike detection
One of the key strengths of this line is its density compensated head design. Even though the tip section is thinner than the belly, the head sinks in a straight and even line without unwanted sagging. This gives you better contact with the fly, more precise control during the retrieve and more positive strike detection. Combined with the 6% low-stretch core, the line feels direct and tactile even on long casts or subtle takes.
The new coating formula is softer and more supple, making the line perform very well in colder conditions. It has low memory, shoots more cleanly and helps reduce tangles during active fishing. Altogether, this creates a smooth and dependable casting experience for coastal streamer fishing and other demanding situations on open water.
Taper built for control, presentation and larger flies
Coastal Classic WF shares the proven taper philosophy of the original line, but with small updates that improve stability and presentation. The 2 m back taper helps the line carry well in the air during longer casts, while the level belly delivers strong energy transfer. The front taper is long enough for smooth presentations, yet still powerful enough to turn over larger flies in windy conditions.
The result is a versatile fly line that feels easy to use, performs confidently in wind, and gives anglers the control needed for coastal species, streamer fishing and situations where distance, turnover and sink profile all matter.
Technical specifications
Note: The line is available in Slow Intermediate and Fast Intermediate versions. The Fast Intermediate version has a sink rate of 1.5" (3.8 cm) per second, approximately 26 seconds per meter.
