Description

Fly line designed for coastal fishing, wind and long casts

Guideline Coastal Classic WF is the updated version of the iconic Coastal fly line, developed for anglers who need reliable performance in windy conditions, when fishing streamers, and on open coastal water. It keeps the proven character of the original model while adding a refined taper design and a new coating for even better casting feel, line control and cold-weather handling.

This line is designed to be easy to cast for anglers of all skill levels, while still offering the performance appreciated by experienced fly fishers. It cuts through wind efficiently, turns over larger flies with confidence, and with its 11.4 m head length it offers a great balance between short controlled presentations and longer distance casts.

  • updated coating with higher suppleness built on a 6% low-stretch core
  • density compensated formula for smooth and even sinking performance
  • improved taper design and floating running line on all models
  • available in Slow Intermediate and Fast Intermediate densities
  • easy casting performance for both beginners and experienced anglers
  • 100% free from dangerous phthalates
  • pre-looped on both ends with ID marking on the front section
  • available in line weights WF #5 to WF #9

The return of a proven classic

The original Coastal fly line quickly became a benchmark among fly lines for coastal anglers. Coastal Classic WF builds on that legacy and keeps the same overall personality that made the first version so popular. It still offers strong wind-cutting ability, excellent energy transfer and reliable performance in cold climates, but with subtle profile refinements and updated materials it now feels even more balanced and user-friendly on the water.

Even sinking and improved strike detection

One of the key strengths of this line is its density compensated head design. Even though the tip section is thinner than the belly, the head sinks in a straight and even line without unwanted sagging. This gives you better contact with the fly, more precise control during the retrieve and more positive strike detection. Combined with the 6% low-stretch core, the line feels direct and tactile even on long casts or subtle takes.

The new coating formula is softer and more supple, making the line perform very well in colder conditions. It has low memory, shoots more cleanly and helps reduce tangles during active fishing. Altogether, this creates a smooth and dependable casting experience for coastal streamer fishing and other demanding situations on open water.

Taper built for control, presentation and larger flies

Coastal Classic WF shares the proven taper philosophy of the original line, but with small updates that improve stability and presentation. The 2 m back taper helps the line carry well in the air during longer casts, while the level belly delivers strong energy transfer. The front taper is long enough for smooth presentations, yet still powerful enough to turn over larger flies in windy conditions.

The result is a versatile fly line that feels easy to use, performs confidently in wind, and gives anglers the control needed for coastal species, streamer fishing and situations where distance, turnover and sink profile all matter.
