WHITING Spey SH/C combines two distinct feather types on a single cape. The lower section features Chickabou – marabou-like feathers with an extremely soft and lively motion. The upper section provides Soft Hackle – fine, flexible feathers ideal for spey and salmon patterns or creating voluminous, mobile profiles. Most of these capes originate from white roosters and are later white dyed into precise, vivid shades, ensuring high quality and consistent coloration throughout each piece.
Chickabou (lower section): perfect for tails, collars, bodies, and other mobile zones of smaller streamers or wet flies. It behaves much like marabou – soft, pulsating, and full of lifelike motion underwater.
Soft Hackle (upper section): supple hackles suited for spey and streamer patterns, excellent for Matuka streamers, shrimp flies, or sculpin imitations where volume, movement, and a natural sheen are desired.
Recommended use: wet flies, streamers, tails, bodies, and general fly tying.
Each cape is carefully dyed and graded to ensure consistent fiber quality and even coloration. SH/C is a versatile choice for fly tiers who want both marabou-like movement and soft-hackle delicacy in a single material.
